NEW ELEMENTARY SCHOOL CONFIGURATION
TO BE IMPLEMENTED IN PINE PLAINS CENTRAL SCHOOL DISTRICT
By Evelyn Bartin, February, 2010
Beginning this fall, the Pine Plains Central School District (PPCSD) will implement a new configuration affecting all students in the elementary grades.
This new configuration will result in the creation of two specialized schools: The Cold Spring Early Learning Center, dedicated to students in the primary grades, K – 2; and the Seymour Smith Intermediate Learning Center, dedicated to students in the intermediate grades, 3 – 5.
According to the PPCSD, “this new configuration was designed to address growing concerns regarding equitable class size, services for students with special needs, effective use of resources, fiscal responsibility, and meeting the District’s mission statement and the Board of Education’s goals.”
